Crowdfunding for Book Project on Peter Zumthor’s Teaching – Support Welcome

The BSA is already providing financial support for this significant book project. Interested BSA members are warmly invited to further support the project through the ongoing crowdfunding campaign. We would therefore like to draw your attention to this opportunity.

Lucerne-based architect Dr. Rafael Lorentz, a graduate and doctoral student of the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio, is working together with Quart Verlag on a comprehensive publication about Peter Zumthor’s early teaching activities at the Accademia. The book is based on Lorentz’s research as well as the previously unpublished archive of Atelier Zumthor, complemented by interviews with former students, assistants, and colleagues – including Valentin Bearth, Mario Botta, Manuel Aires Mateus, and Peter Zumthor himself.

The publication provides, for the first time, an in-depth insight into a formative chapter of recent Swiss architectural history and into the development of an unusually innovative educational model.

About half of the budget has already been secured through support from various foundations as well as the BSA and SIA. To raise the remaining funds, a crowdfunding campaign has now been launched on “We Make It.”
