6th biennale svizzera del territorio  – "Handle with Care"

From 1 to 3 October, the biennale svizzera del territorio returns for its sixth edition, centred at Villa Saroli and taking place across Mendrisio, Bellinzona and Lugano. The event is organised by Istituto Internazionale di Architettura under the direction of architect Ludovica Molo, and brings together emerging architects selected by an international committee, conferences, round tables, an urban walk and participatory activities open to the public.

The title "Handle with Care" is a timely invitation to reflect on the urgency of a responsible architecture centred on care – one that repairs, maintains and regenerates through attuned listening to places and to the pre-existing, and through community engagement. A complex alternative to the easier path of demolition and construction, hallmarks of an architecture that consumes territory and resources.
